In the fourth quarter of 2023, the electrical and electronic sector continued to demonstrate a period essentially of maintenance in Business Volume in both national and foreign markets, although, once again, cases of decrease in relation to the previous quarter increased.

In the 1st quarter, the forecast of maintenance in both markets clearly stands out, given the uncertainty of the economic situation for this year: on the one hand, legislative measures at national level, on the other, growth very conditioned by economic developments in the area of euro and the evolution of current international geopolitical tensions (wars in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip, in addition to attacks in the Red Sea).

It is not surprising that Banco de Portugal itself, usually more optimistic compared to other economic institutions, has revised growth for 2024 downwards from 1.5% to 1.2%.
